Back to the real world!
Hope your Christmas celebration was wonderful, ours was, but now it's time to start thinking about January. There are lots of activities and projects rapidly approaching, so here are some quick updates.
Friday, January 1 -- "Remember Me" volume two begins
In addition to the usual page kit clubs and card kit club we'll have ready for you, if you have joined the "Remember Me" volume two album club, your album, extra page protectors, and free first page kit will be ready for you to pick up (or have shipped). (We have extra albums and kits, and you can still join this easy and fun way to create an album about yourself.) See the December 14 post below for all the details.
Friday, January 1 -- "Sketches for Scrapbooking" volume five goes on sale
The fifth in this series of sketch books by Allison Davis and Debbie Sanders will be ready for purchase. For $12.99, you'll get 30 all-new computer sketches with exact measurements and placements of papers and photos! These books are popular from coast to coast! Check out scrapbookgeneration.com to see several examples of our two-page layout sketches.
Friday, January 1 -- "Scrapmania" at Windermere (a new event) registration begins
This is a new venture for Scrapbook Generation! We're hosting a mega-crop for up to 150 people at Windermere Conference Center near Camdenton and the Lake of the Ozarks area on Saturday, April 24. This event will closely resemble Scrap-a-Palooza, but there is one major difference. Scrap-a-Palooza in Springfield is a joint effort with Midwest Family Broadcast Group, and the registration fees go to them. Scrapmania at Windermere is totally a Scrapbook Generation production, and your registration fee goes to SG. You may sign up and pay the $49 registration fee beginning today for this mega-crop beginning at 9 am and ending at 10 pm. The fee includes lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks, free mini-classes, demos, a well-stocked goodie bag, and more! And if you haven't seen our fully-stocked on-site store with 40-50 paper collections not yet sold at SG, you'll be extremely impressed! Scrap-a-Palooza in Springfield sells out every time, and we're expecting great things with Scrapmania at Windermere! Great location for those of you in the mid-Missouri area, as well as Kansas City and St. Louis! Need more details? Give us a call and we'll be happy to explain more.
Saturday, January 2 -- Super-Saver Scrapbooking Sessions
We'll be using 10 pieces of paper and a 12x12 sheet of die-cuts by Crate Paper and making three double-page layouts...all for the incredible price of only $9! Call to register and pre-pay.
Saturday, January 9 -- "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker" Day
We're hosting the world premiere of two of Nikki's six new lines, and you'll get to see these new products BEFORE they are released at CHA in Anaheim later in January! There will be mini-super-saver sessions in which we make two double-page layouts, free mini-classes, prizes, three huge chocolate fountains, and best of all, you have the chance to go home with TWO free page kits, each a $12.99 value! Scroll down and read the December 19 post for more specific details. Please call to register and pre-pay for the super-saver sessions.
Saturday, January 16 -- Scrap-a-Palooza at Remingtons in Springfield
Less than 75 of the 225 spots remain for this mega-fun mega crop in Springfield. Register at star1051.fm. Radio ads have already started, and the remaining spots go quickly once that begins! I'll keep you posted on specific numbers, but I'd advise not cutting it too close...we ended up with a huge waiting list last time, and lots of disappointed people who didn't get registered in time to make the cut.

Merry Christmas from Scrapbook Generation's Debbie Sanders, Karin Vacha, Stacey Atchley, and Allison Davis! Hope your celebration at this wonderful time of year is everything you've dreamed of. I know that most of you are just like us, tired and overbooked from scurrying around to buy, bake, decorate, wrap, and cook for the special people in your life. In the midst of all the craziness, I'm going to try and slow down and just enjoy my family and remember why we celebrate December 25. Hope you can do the same!
Update on Scrap-a-Palooza: We've expanded our seating capabilities, and we'll now be taking 225 people for the January 16 mega-crop! As of this morning, over 150 of those seats are taken, and the radio advertising starts on two of the stations today and the rest of the stations on Dec. 30. Once that begins, the remaining spots go quickly. Don't forget that Scrapbook Generation does not collect or receive the registration money; that goes to Midwest Family Broadcasting. You can register online at star1051.fm.
Update on our DVD: It now has a title, but the release date has been pushed back to mid-January. The director/producer will be re-shooting one of the class segments the week after Christmas. Allison's teaching was great, but after the first segment, the guys switched from two cameras to three, and so now the first part needs to be redone so that everything matches and coordinates. And why we thought we could juggle the biggest project of our lives with the craziness that is Christmas is beyond me! We all decided that a polished product is much more important than having things done by the end of December. More details as I know them!

Here's a sneak peek at the layout we'll be doing this Saturday for the Allison Davis Hall of Fame Sketch sessions. Your cost is only about $4, and as always, the computer sketch is free! This sketch is one of my favorites of hers lately, based off of one of her "Allison's Creative Kitchen" layouts we've had on display here in Scrapbook Generation. If you can make it out of bed the day after Christmas, consider spending part of the day with us, making this great layout!
To register, just call us at 417-886-0440. Sessions are at 10, 11:30, 1, and 2:30.

For just a minute or two, imagine that Christmas is over and January is here! The gang at Scrapbook Generation is thrilled to be hosting the world premiere of two of the six new collections by Springfield-based company "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker." This special day-long event will take place Saturday, January 9, prior to the launch of her new products at the winter CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) show in Anaheim. (We've been lucky to get a sneak peek at all the new lines, and they are awesome and unique!)
Nikki will be at Scrapbook Generation all day to meet our customers, and we have plenty of activities planned. We're lucky to have her here at the store...she's spent much of her time since the last CHA traveling to stores all over the country, teaching classes and promoting her products.
Because I was limited on space in the last newsletter we mailed, some of the activities I'm listing here will be new announcements!
• Mini-Super-Saver Scrapbooking free class sessions using one of Nikki's new collections. Just register, pre-pay the $7 materials fee, bring basic tools, and create two double-page layouts by Allison Davis and Debbie Sanders. Sessions are at 10, 11:30, 1 or 2:30.
• NEW INFO -- Super-Saver Bonus! Everyone attending the Mini-Super-Saver sessions gets their choice of Christmas-themed page kits, FREE! This is a $12.99 value.
• NEW INFO -- Shopping Bonus! Everyone who makes a purchase of $25 or more gets their choice of winter-themed page kits, FREE! This is a $12.99 value. (This offer is for adults only, one per family, please.) And yes, this means you could go home with TWO free page kits!
• All "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker" products will be 20% off.
• There will be prize drawings all day long.
• Using her latest products, Nikki will be teaching three free mini-classes. She'll have help from her company's graphic designer, Heather Schroeder, and from Katrina Hunt, a super-talented local scrapbooker and design team member for scrapbooking company KiKi Art.
• A giant chocolate fountain (the same one as the triple-chocolate deliciousness at Scrap-a-Palooza) will be flowing all day long, and we'll have plenty of yummy treats for you to dip.
Please join us as we celebrate the latest products by "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker," a local company that has already gained international interest and acclaim.

Need some inspiration? Check out the November projects that were displayed at Scrapbook Generation this evening, compliments of the awesome scrapbookers and card-makers who are members of the Designers Challenge Club! This month, the club members were given a packet of Christmas papers by BoBunny, chipboard shapes by Maya Road, chipboard letters by KaiserCraft, a Bling It shape by BasicGrey, and some glimmer tulle. Here's what they came up with...so many great ideas and projects.

Just talked to Chris at Midwest Family Broadcasting, and Scrap-a-Palooza is filling much quicker this time around! Almost 120 of the 200 spots are filled with about five weeks to go, and last year, we didn't reach this point until 10 days before the event! I'd hate for any of you to get left out, so I'll keep you updated.
Just remember that Scrapbook Generation does not receive or collect the registration fee. That goes to the radio station. You can register online at star1051.fm.

It's a busy, busy time of the year, but here's an invitation to slow down for about an hour this Saturday and spend some time with your favorite hobby! Scrapbook Generation's free Basic Sketch Sessions will be held at 10, 11:30, 1, and 2:30, and we'd love to have you join us.
We normally stick to general topics, but it has become a tradition to do a Christmas-themed layout at the December session. Saturday, we'll be using these beautiful muted and distressed papers in traditional Christmas colors, from a collection by Paper Loft. Your cost for the layout will only be around $4, and as always, the re-usable sketch is free.
Give us a call if you want to register for this activity. Hope to see you Saturday!
I wanted to share the comments that people have written on Facebook about our free Christmas Gift Tag Gala this past Saturday. It was hectic and messy, and I'll admit that I probably tried to cram too many projects into too short a time. I worried that the more than 80 people who participated were too rushed and didn't enjoy the experience. Then I read these sweet comments, and they've made my day! And probably my week! Maybe even longer!
"It was a LOT of fun! Thanks, ladies, for all you do to make scrapbooking awesome." -- Jane
"I had a great time." -- Connie
"Thanks for all your hard work getting all these cute gift cards cut and ready for us. You are very generous to us and we appreciate you." -- Judy
"Thanks for the great tags, girls! We had a good time." -- Chris
"This was a wonderful event. I was pokey and took the supplies home, but finished all tonight with the help of your blog! They are gorgeous! Your store and materials are so classy! Thanks for all your hard work in having these freebie classes." -- Debi

"Remember Me" album club was one of the most successful and rewarding ventures for Scrapbook Generation. Hundreds of scrapbookers in southwest Missouri and across the country joined the club and over the course of 12 months, created a keepsake album about themselves.
Now it's time for "Remember Me" volume two! The club begins January 1, and while you can start at any time, we're urging everyone to join as soon as possible, because we're limiting the enrollment and once the memberships are gone, they're gone for good.
Volume two of this project to leave a completed album about you, the person usually left out of photos and pages, focuses on totally new topics. The photo above shows the opening page of "Remember Me" volume two. The kit for this page is included free with your club membership. We'll be using the beautiful 3-ring leather binder albums by We R Memory Keepers, and you have a choice of three colors (check the sidebar at right for the choices).
For the $39.99 membership fee, you receive the album, extra page protectors, and the free kit for the opening page. For the next 11 months, the fee is $14.99 for each two-page layout kit. And as an added bonus this time, with your final paid kit you'll receive a free kit for a single-page closing layout. If you sign up before January 1, the billing for the $39.99 membership fee takes place on January 1, and your album and first kit will be available to pick up that day.
"Remember Me" volume two features papers and embellishments from a variety of leading companies, and we'll be using "Thickers" chipboard letters by American Crafts throughout the album. While the first volume followed the same color scheme throughout, this new volume will be eclectic in colors and products!
The sample of the actual page pictured above is on display at Scrapbook Generation, and we'll be happy to answer any further questions you have either by email, telephone, or in person. To sign up for this rewarding and heartwarming project, just choose an album color, call us or stop by, and you'll be ready to create an album your children and grandchildren and other family members will cherish.

If you haven't signed up for Scrapbook Generation's Christmas Gift Tag Gala on Saturday, we still have about 15 of the 100 spots available. We'll be making the four tags and the one gift card holder shown above, and it's totally FREE. The openings left are at 2, 3 or 4 pm. Hope to see you Saturday for lots of beautiful papers, shiny glitter, and easy/fun projects.
Changing the subject, when we did our "extreme makeover" of the store this week, we have four wood and acrylic racks for 8-1/2 x 11 paper that we need to sell because we don't have room to store them. They would even work great in an office that needed to store lots of letter-size forms. Just call us for a price.

Christmas Gift Tag Gala...
Saturday at Scrapbook Generation is going to be a flurry of red and green and glitter and ink, as we host our first Christmas Gift Tag Gala. Almost 80 of you are already signed up, and we have room for about 20 more! We'll be making four Christmas gift tags and one gift card holder. The gift card holder is pictured above, and is really quick and easy to make! And did I mention that you'll be making all five items for the fabulous price of...FREE! We provide all the materials and supplies for this fun activity, and we'll be using beautiful papers by BasicGrey, BoBunny, and Graphic 45.
To attend, just call and pre-register, then stop by on Saturday for some Christmas fun.

Scrapbook Generation has a new look!
Stacey and Allison rearranged the store Saturday night to get a homey-looking set fixed for the filming of our first-ever instructional DVD. The lighting crew arrived Sunday morning and did interesting stuff like take out the ceiling tiles and string lights from above, then the filming crew arrived later. To keep the lighting consistent, the filming had to take place after dark, so they started about 5 pm on Sunday and completed the job about 6 am Monday morning. I'm glad I was home!
By the time I arrived this morning, Ali had already headed home to get some well-deserved sleep, but I did get to talk to Stacey about how things went. She said Ali did an awesome job with the instructional parts of the DVD. And besides the on-screen work, there was a huge amount of behind the scenes preparation. In addition to the completed layouts, they had to make several copies of all the parts and pieces, so that they could explain and show how to make the pages.
One of my former journalism students, Darin Raney, is producing the DVD through his company, Encite, Inc. Darin was in Hollywood for several years, and worked on movies you'll easily recognize, like "Dave" and "A Few Good Men." He's back in Springfield now, and it's been a great experience to be collaborating with him on this project.
What's left to do? We have to complete the 25 all-new sketches and the 75 all-new layouts for the DVD. The sketches will be printable and the layouts will make up a gallery that will be a bonus feature in addition to the instructional part of the DVD. We still think we can be finished in time for a release date of late December. (Reserve a copy of the DVD in advance by calling SG, or by signing up on the DVD page on scrapbookgeneration.com).
Anyway, back to the "homey set." It was quick and easy to take down the supplies Stacey and Allison had used to decorate the bookcases, and replace them with the huge selection of albums we have right now. I think you'll like the new look!
