April 'Super-Saver' Scrapbooking layouts...

Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions...
We'll be making these three layouts Saturday, April 6 in the Debbie Sanders Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions at Scrapbook Generation. As always, your cost to make these three layouts at SG is an amazing $9. (This month is an especially good deal -- including a set of chipboard accents -- the price of the materials is actually over $11!)

Give us a call at 417-886-0440 to register and pre-pay. Sessions will be held at 10am and 2pm.

"SG Loyalty" program...
And don't forget the "SG Loyalty" program, the customer loyalty program that rewards people who shop in our Springfield store through a computerized point system. When you reach $50 in purchases (excluding kit clubs, classes which require pre-payment, and gift cards), a coupon for $5 off your purchase on a future day is generated as part of your receipt. The coupon can be used to purchase anything at SG except kit clubs and gift cards.

You'll earn double points for your entire purchase by attending and participating in the Super Saver Scrapbooking class shown above!

Super Sketch Club members:
Yes, materials for these three layouts will be included in your April kit!

KITS:
• All kits must be requested before the class activities take place on Saturday.
• The fee for a kit is $10, and is due at the time the request is made.
• If you need the kit shipped to you, the shipping charge is an additional $5.99.
The best deal for our long-distance customers? Join the monthly Super Sketch Club and get this kit, the Sketch Day One layout kit, and the Sketch Day Two layout kit (includes materials and sketches for five double-page layouts, plus two bonus double-page sketches) for $20 plus $6.99 shipping.

Catching up...

Weekend crops...
We're so happy with the response to our four weekend crops for 2013. When we left last night we had a little less than 20 spots left in the May 3-4 crop for 70 people, and about 7-8 spots left in each of the crops for June, September, and November.

That's a tremendous way to start the sign-up. For the National Scrapbooking Day crop in May, we have a great group of local gals, plus new friends we'll be making from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and yes, even Australia!

Store Improvements...
Yesterday afternoon, we met with our remodeling contractor -- AKA Stacey's husband Jeremy. He did a wonderful job getting everything fixed when we originally moved into the bigger space, and he works weekends without too much complaining! He's going to be adding slatwall in three different places in the store so that we'll have more display room.

We also think we figured out what new fixtures need to be purchased -- about 20 of them -- and where they will go. We're not going to crowd things, just replace some that aren't as functional as we would like, plus we're creating a new spot in the corner where the second cash register area is currently. All that "furniture" is going to the new warehouse and we think that area will make a great spot for cardmaking materials.

As I've said before, we simply don't have room to display all the products we receive. We have dozens of new collections just waiting for a spot, plus every single paper tray we own is in use. Going to have to order more of those, too!

Sadness today

Nikki Majors and her mother, Elaine Littrell, at our fall 2012 retreat.

Facebook may get a little crazy at times, but it does keep you informed. I just read this morning that one of our dear customers/friends is gone. Elaine Littrell had a stroke several weeks ago, and I learned from her daughter, Nikki Majors, that Elaine has died.

We've been watching Nikki's reports since her mother's stoke, and Elaine was such a forceful, lively, active person that in my mind I fully expected her to recover. Such an unwelcome surprise to find out otherwise. Many of you will remember this mother-daughter duo from several of our retreats, and also store activities.

And while I'm mentioning Elaine, it also makes me think of Betty Ann Shuert, who lost her husband just days ago. He had been suffering from a long illness, so it wasn't an unexpected death, but that doesn't make it any eaiser. Betty Ann has been on our minds recently, and we know that many of you know and care about her as well.

Our condolences to both families.

New direction for SG!

We're moving back to our old building. But don't be disappointed. We're also staying in our new building. Scrapbook Generation will be a Springfield, Missouri store for as long as scrapbookers love to shop with us.

However, we are expanding in a new way. In late summer or early fall, Scrapbook Generation is "going big" with our online store. We've leased our old building next door and we'll soon have a 3,000-square-foot warehouse dedicated entirely to filling and shipping online orders.

Our goal? To eventually be one of the top online one-stop-shopping destinations for scrapbookers and cardmakers, providing our online customers with the same great products and personal service that we offer our local customers.

How we plan to reach that goal:
User appeal -- we'll unveil a new online storefront with nicely-sized images, helpful product descriptions, search capabilities, easy navigation from products to cart, secure checkout including a Paypal option, and mobile device-friendly browsing;
Paper collections -- we'll carry both collection packs and individual papers, plus all the embellishments that match the collection;
Shipping -- we'll have reasonable and competitive rates for both U.S. and international customers, plus free shipping in some instances;
Loyalty program -- we'll have an incentive program that will earn you rewards each time you shop;
Customer service -- we'll provide fast order processing and individualized attention;
Bonus -- from time to time, we'll have great sales and special promotions.

Brands we plan to carry in our online store:
• 7 Gypsies
• American Crafts
• Authentique
• BasicGrey
• Bazzill
• Bella Blvd
• Best Creation
• BoBunny
• Canvas Corp.

Over the next four or five months, we'll be doing whatever needs to be done to turn the empty building into an efficient warehouse. Plans are to have it operational in time for all the new releases from summer CHA, which by the way, has been renamed Create-N-Connect. We'll be heading to Vegas in July to order part of our new online inventory!

We've already talked with some of the biggest vendors, and we're negotiating priority shipping so that the Scrapbook Generation online store (and our Springfield store) will be among the first in the country to receive new products.

We'll also be completely re-doing our online store itself. Stacey has gone as far as she can go with the company we're currently with. We're going to have a new store "built" for speed, security, and easy navigation. Like the warehouse, we're aiming to have the new online store operational in time for the summer releases, which should start arriving in late July, August, and September.

Like everything we've attempted, we're approaching this new venture with lots of planning, and we're taking it slow. That's worked for us always. Our current online store has taught us a great deal about what it takes to be successful in that arena. So don't expect us to have every item from every company from day one. It will take some time to build up the inventory. But once we do, look out! We'll be ready to run with the big dogs!

Sketch Fusion is here!

The first print run of Sketch Fusion is here at SG! We're starting to ship the pre-orders that were the books alone. The Simple Stories collection packs (Vintage Bliss, Urban Traveler, 24/Seven) and the Simple Basics packs are arriving in a few hours. (I think we're the first anywhere to get them.)

We're going to get all the pre-ordered bundles (collection packs and books) shipped today and tomorrow, unless something crazy happens. We want them to get to you as soon as possible!

Other info...
• Local shoppers who placed a pre-order for the print version of Sketch Fusion can stop by SG for your copy.
• The downloadable e-book version of Sketch Fusion is now ready in our online store. It's identical to the print version. Click here to purchase.
• The "new" Simple Stories embellishments (brads, etc.) are not available yet. It's looking like it's going to be another couple of weeks for those. So, if your pre-order also included any single sheets of paper, brads, etc. (anything that is NOT a collection pack), those will come to you in a separate shipment.
