Karin made the model for this class, and the real thing is absolutely beautiful. I've never made a calendar like this before, but I think I may need to make one of these! Karin will be at SG both of the class days and will be happy to help you with any questions you may have, as well as offer helpful hints.

This class will work better if you have the photos with you. You can see some of the pages in the pictures below, but I'm going to list all the orientations of the photos for each month so you can have your pictures with you. Karin also recommends bringing several photos to choose from for each month, because some may coordinate better with the titles than others.
All photos are standard size.
• Vertical 4x6 photos: January, February, June, August, September, and November.
• Horizontal 6x4 photos: March, April, May, July, October, and December.

New features for our blog readers...
We've recently added several stand-alone pages that are designed to provide easy access to information that is frequently requested, plus make it easy to group several items together to help you find them quickly!

You'll find this new area on the right sidebar. It's titled "check out these pages for tons of helpful information." There are 10 pages, and seven of them are already functional and ready for you to use!

• December 2010 class photos: This is the place to find photos (and other information) of classes we'll be offering this December. This page will change monthly, and just as soon as we have class models, you'll find the pictures right here!

• Scrapbook Generation retreats: Find photos of our fall 2010 retreats, plus answers to almost every question you might have about how our retreats operate. This includes fees, registration and deposits, dates, location, overview, meal and snack details, shopping opportunities, paid classes, prizes, and contests. You can also read comments from scrapbookers who have attended one of our retreats.

• Scrap-a-Palooza mega-crop: Read about what makes our signature event such a huge hit with area croppers, find out how to register, and check out photos of our most recent event.

• Super Sketch Club info: Discover all the details of what this club includes, plus pricing and shipping information, and how to get signed up for all the fun.

• Super Sketch Club photos: If you are a member of the Super Sketch Club, go directly to this page for the photos of the layouts in the kits you receive. Gathering them all in one place will be easier than in the past where you had to find multiple blog entries in order to see the photos.

• SG/Allison Davis sketch books: Learn more details about the hottest sketch books on the market today. Follow the easy link to order the books on our website, or to gain wholesale access and sell the books in your own retail store.

• Sixth birthday celebration -- 2010: We had such a great time at our recent birthday hoopla that we thought it needed its own permanent page! Go there to remember what it felt like to be a sardine that day!

Three other stand-alone pages that we'll work on in the future include ones about our monthly kit clubs, photos of special events, and some inside information about the SG family!

Designers Challenge Club projects for November...
Our turnout this month was down, but we still have lots of great projects to show you! And for all you members who weren't able to attend the November meeting, we're going to have some festivities during the December meeting. We'll bring some Christmas goodies, and if you want to bring some to share, that's great. If you can't, that's fine, too! We'll call it a Christmas party one way or another! We're ready to open at 7 am on Friday!
Get ready for "Black Friday."

Scrapbook Generation will continue its tradition of opening its doors at 7 am the day after Thanksgiving for early-bird shoppers looking for great deals.

The first 100 people making a $15 or more pre-tax purchase will receive a "value pack" kit with Pink Paislee products. The free kit, normally priced at $20, includes cardstock, patterned paper, a set of chipboard letters, a few extras, plus a cutting guide and sketches for three double-page layouts.

All-day values include 30% off any one item of your choice and 20 percent off all Scrapbook Generation page kits (excluding monthly club kits.) No coupons are needed for these special prices. All offers are for adults only, one per family please.

And I suspect that we'll have several of Stacey's world-famous sale-paper bins! Gotta love top-brand papers priced at 30, 40, and 50 cents a sheet.

We have a winner!
On November 2, we asked the following question.

"We've just announced that we're moving to a new location that will give us an additional 2,000 square feet of space. What could we do with this extra space that will make Scrapbook Generation the "perfect" scrapbooking store, in your eyes?"

The random winner of a $50 prize package is...
"I too think an area where all the latest and greatest is on display and a project or 2 showing how to use the new stuff--make and take. I need to "do" to learn, so this would help me a lot."  -- Merri Lynn

We have enjoyed reading your ideas about what to do with all that extra room! There were some really good ideas, and some were even things we've already talked about doing as time and finances permit.

As the month of November slips away and January 1 is rapidly approaching, you can imagine how eager we are to get started creating the new home of Scrapbook Generation. One change will be our color scheme. I've loved our red, yellow and green combo (which came about because of a long-ago shopping trip at Target where a collection of metal items caught my eye!). You've seen part of this change in the new logo Stacey created for our Facebook page. Blue has joined us...the carpet and tile in the new building are blue, so we decided to embrace this extra color instead of fighting it!

Earlier, we had decided to have a family contest to design a new store logo, and the rest of us didn't even get our "entries" started, because Allison brought in several and we loved them all! The four of us chose our favorite, and later that day, the new logo was on its way to Notions Marketing, the nation's largest craft distributor, which is featuring our sketch books on the cover of its latest catalog! You'll get your first peek at the new SG logo just as soon as the new website Stacey has fixed for us goes live in the next few days.

Anyway, I'm writing this late at night because I'm starting to think about the move to the new building when I should be sleeping! Where to put everything. How to paint everything. What new fixtures to order. What new products to purchase. And most importantly, WHEN will all this happen! Stacey and Allison spent the day today trying to organize and box up some of the massive amount of "stuff" that we have accumulated from retreats and Paloozas and other events. And so many of you have offered to help us move. Such a nice thing to do! The best thing...no matter who is doing the moving, we don't have to go far!

Allison's sketch class this Saturday is full of 'togetherness'

We hope you can join us Saturday and make this cute layout at the Allison Davis free sketch sessions. The sessions are held at 10, 11:30, 1, and 2:30. Your cost to make this layout will be about $4, and you'll also receive a free computer sketch of the design that you can use over and over. As always, if these papers don't work for you, simply choose and pay for others at SG. To pre-register, just give us a call at 417-886-0440.

Can't attend but would like a kit? We would be happy to fix one for you. The fee is $5 and is due when the kit request is made.

Special note to Super Sketch Club members: Yes, the materials for this layout will be included with your November kit!
Rescheduling Tammy Roberts' classes...
We extend our sympathies to Tammy Roberts, following the recent death of her brother. Although we would have all understood if she wanted to take some time off from her teaching schedule, we also understand how important it is to keep active and busy.  Her Christmas card and tag class is being rescheduled for Tuesday, November 30 at 10 am and 6 pm. If you are signed up and for some reason can't attend, we'll have some other options for you.

It's time to get your spring retreat dates selected!
On Wednesday, Dec. 1, registration opens for our two spring retreats, held the weekends of March 11-13 and March 18-20 in Branson. We are doing things differently than in the past. Instead of giving past attendees a month's head-start in the registration process, this time we are opening up registration for everyone at 10 am on December 1.

Since both fall retreats were sold-out events, it would be a good idea to get with your retreat buddies and decide which weekend you want to attend. With this "shot-gun start," we're expecting that both retreats will sell-out quickly. To register, you'll need to pay a $50 non-refundable deposit.

To provide more information to those of you who have never attended a Scrapbook Generation retreat, I've added a new feature to this blog. I'm in the process of creating a series of 10 stand-alone pages that you can access on the right sidebar. Right now, three of them are functional, including the link to a page about our retreats. Simply find the box on the right of this page that is titled "check out these pages for tons of helpful information." Next, click on "Scrapbook Generation Retreats" for information about fees, activities, classes, meals, prizes, contests, and more. If you still have unanswered questions after reading this page, don't hesitate to give us a call at 417-886-0440!

Tammy Tutterow class members are ready to get messy!

Guest teacher Tammy Tutterow, here with us from St. Louis, is teaching the second of her two classes this weekend. Most of the ladies were also here Friday evening, so they're getting a double-dose of Tammy's talent. I know I'll leave something out, but she is on the Tim Holtz Design Team, and also has been a designer for companies like BasicGrey, Pink Paislee, Prima, Graphic 45 and more. We're lucky that Tammy has a Springfield connection...her mom, Shirley Hall!

We're already planning out our 2011 schedule, and Tammy is a huge part of that. It will be so awesome to have our new enclosed classroom in our new building for her next visit. That way we won't have to turn away people who want to take her classes because of a shortage of classroom space!
More new Christmas goodies!

Fans of everything vintage, and you know who you are, will love the two new Christmas collections by Websters Pages. We have Sweet Season and Waiting for Santa, plus lots of extras like packages of sparkly tulle and tinsel.
Designers Challenge Club's October creations...
The talented members of our Designers Challenge Club outdid themselves on creating beautiful cards with last month's packet! If you need some card inspiration (or layout inspiration), check out these projects.

We're always accepting new members into the Designers Challenge Club. If you want to join the group, give us a call and you can attend the November meeting and pick up your $15 packet of supplies. (We all get the same packet of papers and embellishments, then head home for a month of creativity before bringing our projects back to share with the rest of the group.) It's always so much fun to see what others have done with the same supplies. This month, the group will be getting Christmas goodies to work with!
