Welcome to Scrapbook Generation's October blog contest! From now until midnight on Monday, October 19, leave a comment on the following question, and you'll be entered in a random drawing to win a prize package valued at $50. We'll announce the winner on Tuesday, October 20.

Here's the October question...Scrapbook Generation's actual fifth birthday is October 11. Share a memory about SG and/or a birthday wish for the SG gang.

New arrivals today include "Dazzlers" by Petaloo. These glittery foam accents would be especially great on holiday cards.

We also have the Karen Foster Design countdown calendar, which includes 25 boxes with easy-to-use finger notches and a sheet of countdown number clear stickers to get you started. You decorate the outside of the boxes, then fill them with candies, trinkets, toys, or other fun rewards. The countdown calendar doesn't just have to be a Christmas item. Think countdown to other special events, like birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, weddings, and much more!

Here's the first installment of my "Vintage Treasures" class series, titled "Food and Family." For this first class, we're using Graphic 45 papers from the Domestic Goddess collection and adding in some Prima flowers, Glimmer Mist, Tim Holtz metal accents, glossy cardstock, alcohol inks, and metal mixatives that blend with alcohol ink! We'll also use the EK Success slim edger border punches. There is room for three family recipes, and for four pictures, just the size of most older photos. The classes are Monday, Oct. 12 at 6 pm, and Thursday, Oct. 15 at 2 pm. Cost is $15.

The idea for this class is to repeat and reinforce the Tim Holtz products that Allison shows us all how to use in her Tim Holtz Techniques class of the month. I've learned her alcohol ink techniques, and I'll be passing those along! This month, she is featuring Tim Holtz distress ink techniques in her classes later this month. We'll have a photo for you soon!

There are lots of new products on the way, and most will arrive this week!

We're all ready for World Card Making Day, a great way to celebrate the start of the most busy time for many cardmakers -- the approaching Christmas season! On Saturday, people who have pre-registered will be making all of the five cards shown in this post...for free! We're even supplying the adhesives!

Stacey and I started making these cards at 1 pm today! Sounds kind of crazy to wait so late, but we had her "Sketches for Cardmaking" book as a guide! Each one of these cards is based on one of the sketches in the book, and couldn't have been any easier to make.

If you aren't already registered, we only have about 10 spots left, all in the 3 and 4 pm sessions. All other sessions are full. And if you don't have a copy of Stacey's card sketch book, you're missing out on a way to streamline the whole process of creating gorgeous handmade cards.

And don't forget that if you spend at least $25 with Scrapbook Generation on Saturday, you get your choice of a $12.99 card kit or page kit, absolutely free!

Wasn't it in ET that they wrapped the house in plastic? That's how we've been feeling all week! The Scrapbook Generation facelift has been a slightly messy project, but one that will result in a great new look for our portion of the building. I'm not sure when the scaffolding and plastic will come down, but don't let that keep you from stopping by!

Updates...
-- World Card Making Day set for Saturday has over 70 people signed up to attend. Less than 15 spots are still open!
-- SG's fifth birthday Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions have 98 (wow!) people signed up, which means we are full. Thanks for the overwhelmingly positive response! See you November 7 for all the fun!
