'Timeless Treasures' classes for October and November...

For the October "Timeless Treasures" layout class, we'll be making the layout above. Lots of fun stuff, including My Mind's Eye papers and die-cuts, Maya Road pins, some tulle, and some fluttery butterflies by Prima. We'll also be using some of Tim Holtz and Ranger's Distress Stickles. Teacher: Debbie Sanders. Fee: $15

And I know you can't believe it, but I have my November class finished! "Timeless Treasures" for November, above, will again feature My Mind's Eye papers, stickers, and transparencies. We'll add in some Prima flowers and Memory Thread, and glitz everything up with Stickles and the new Glimmer Glam by Tattered Angels. Teacher: Debbie Sanders. Fee: $15.

'Scrapping on the Orient Express' classes, finally!

• Queen Bee Card Set, above. Designed by Stacey Atchley, author of the popular Sketches for Cardmaking book, this set of five cards is fit for a queen. Pink Paislee's Queen Bee paper collection provides a regal touch, and special accents include Prima mini-roses, Maya Road pearl stick pins, American Crafts glitter buttons, Memory Thread, and more. Teacher: Debbie Sanders. Fee: $20.

• Back to School layout, above. Most everyone has a favorite student, and this two-page layout is just waiting for photos of school fun. Crate Paper’s new School Spirit collection features red, gold, aqua, orange, and green, and the bright designs will work for both boys and girls. The coordinating sheet of stickers you’ll use even has a mini-grade card you can use for real grades or for journaling. Teacher: Allison Davis. Fee: $15

• Tis the Season layout, above. With the holidays just around the corner, having a completed layout ready for family photos can be one thing you check off your to-do list. Traditional Christmas colors of red, pine green and creamy white take center stage in My Mind’s Eye’s Holly Jolly collection, and adds a touch of festive charm to this two-page layout. Handstitching adds homey accents, and a 12x12 sheet of die-cuts provides embellishments like a Christmas countdown, reindeer, and holly. Teacher: Allison Davis. Fee: $15

• My Friends Trio of Layouts, above. This collection of pages is perfect to showcase special moments with friends, both past and present. You’ll use BasicGrey’s Origins collection in greens, yellows, cream, brown and black to make one 2-page layout and two 1-page layouts. Materials include designer cardstock, coordinating die-cuts, rub-ons, and printed chipboard. Best of all, you’ll have lots of treats left over to use on other projects. Teacher: Debbie Sanders. Fee: $22

These are the four classes that will be offered at our two weekend retreats in Branson, and if you are attending, you can go ahead and register now, or you can wait until the retreat. We don't normally do sign-ups at the retreat, but since we've been rather tardy getting things ready for you to view, we're going to break our own rule! I can't wait...I'm going to do some scrapbooking myself both weekends!

Today's the day!

It's official.
On Monday, October 11, 2004, Scrapbook Generation opened its doors for the first time.
Six years later, it's fun to look back and see how everything has changed.

It always makes me smile when I remember how adamant Stacey was that she would work at the store, but that she was not going to "do crafts." Karin didn't know the difference between Stickles and Diamond Glaze. And Allison had to be walked through every single step of making her first layout to display here at the store.

Now, as most of you know, Stacey creates beautiful cards and teaches great classes; Karin speaks fluent "scrapbook" and apparently knows the name of every person who walks in the store; and Allison, well, her talents and honors and accomplishments have helped propel us to a very happy place.

I'll have to say that these six years have been some of the happiest in my life. I've loved the fact that we've created something from nothing, and that it has been a success. I've loved working with my crazy family. And I've loved meeting so many scrapbookers who have become our friends.

This is a great time to remind you how much the four of us appreciate your business. We know that there are tons of other places you can shop for scrapbooking supplies, and we're always honored when you choose us. Thanks for supporting us along our journey...it continues to be a challenge we enjoy each and every day!

Join us for the celebration...

From now until Saturday, Nov. 6, the red, yellow, and green balloons logo above will signal more fun details about Scrapbook Generation’s huge sixth birthday party are being revealed. Every few days between now and then, I’ll let you in on a little more of the excitement we have planned for you.

I’ve told you that our front table will be mounded over with 200 birthday presents from Scrapbook Generation to our favorite people in the world -- our customers. I’ve also told you that the first 200 customers (defined as those who spend at least $15 that day -- adults only, one per family) each get to unwrap one of the presents. However, I haven’t told you what is going to be in the packages.

A little bit of everything! There will be stickers, albums, chipboard sets, entire paper collections, and embellishments of all kinds. We’re providing some of the gifts, and some are from the generosity of companies like My Mind’s Eye, Creative Imaginations, BoBunny, Crate Paper, SugarTree, Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker, Three Bugs in a Rug, Reminisce, American Crafts, BasicGrey, and more. And four lucky people will go home with gifts worth over $200 -- they’ll each unwrap a year’s membership in Scrapbook Generation’s Remember Me Club, volume two!

I’ll have to admit that I can be devious on occasion, and I’ve been thinking about how to make this more interesting for a long time! In order to keep you in suspense, don’t expect an album to be wrapped in a 12x12 box. You might open a tiny jewelry-sized box and find a note inside that says “12x12 album.” Get the picture? Good things will absolutely come in small packages...or medium ones...or large ones. Just expect the unexpected!

At least once in your life, blatantly ask for compliments! It's such a thrill to read your favorite things about Scrapbook Generation. The fast-pace of our fall activities and responsibilities has left all four of us a little tired and weary, but reading your comments is definitely energizing and uplifting. Thank you so much!

Tammy Roberts' October class project...

Exquisite isn't a word I use a great deal, but it's the one that came to mind when I saw the sample for Tammy Roberts' upcoming class at Scrapbook Generation. She's taken a simple kraft album by Graphic 45 and turned it into a thing of beauty. With only 15 spots available both times the class is offered, it's sure to be a sell-out.

This Graphic 45 Vintage Charm Calendar/Journal uses Graphic 45's Le' Romantique collection, and has all the little extra touches that we've come to expect from Tammy. The class is offered Tuesday, October 12 at 10 am and also Thursday, October 28 at 6 pm. Class fee is $20.

Debbie Sanders free sketch sessions for this Saturday...

This is the layout we'll be making Saturday in the Debbie Sanders free sketch sessions. Your cost to make this layout will be about $4, and you'll also receive a free computer sketch you can use over and over. To sign up, please call 417-886-0440 and let us know which time slot you want: 10, 11:30, 1 or 2:30. If you can't attend and want a kit, the fee is $5, and is due at the time you request the kit.

Note to Super Sketch Club members: Yes, this layout and sketch will be included in your October kit!
