World Cardmaking Day!

Saturday, October 6, we have a treat planned for you!

We'll be celebrating World Cardmaking Day in a different way this year, with special help from Katrina Hunt and Lindsey Amschler. From 11 am until 4 pm, please stop by and make three free cards, and learn some new skills at the same time.

As you stop at Katrina's station, she'll be demonstrating misting and masking techniques, featuring Mister Huey's mists and mistable fabric and wood shapes by Studio Calico and American Crafts.

Lindsey will demonstrating techniques to give you the best image from clear acrylic stamps. She'll be using the Lil' Inker clear stamps that she designed, based on her Sugar Kissed Cottage vintage images.

Stop at my station, and I'll be showing you a cute way to make a Christmas tree card, featuring border punches and other tools.

For this free activity, stop by any time between 11 and 4. Please call 417-886-0440 and register so that we'll know how many materials to prepare.

We're so lucky to have Katrina and Lindsey with us to share their paper crafting talents!

Latest Allison Davis class...

 The latest Allison Davis class download, "6x6 Paper Pads," is a huge hit!

This non-interactive class is offered in PDF format and focuses on using 6x6 paper pads on full-size two-page layouts. There are 11 new sketches and 11 layout examples created by Allison. The 16-page PDF instructions include tips for using the papers uncut, as they are, as squares in different sizes, and as strips. In separate PDFs there are full-size sketches, large pictures of the layout examples, and up-close pictures of the details on each layout. The class totals around 49 pages, a huge value for only $15.

"I have to say, this class was a lot of fun to put together," Allison said. "If you haven't used 6x  paper pads on full-size layouts you really are missing out. It's quick, it's easy, and it's inexpensive. I was often surprised at just how quickly these layouts went together. Plus, the sketches for this class not only work great with 6x6 paper pads but also with any size of paper you are using."

The class is non-interactive which means that it isn't instructor-led. The class is simply PDFs that you can download and use at your own pace. Even though it isn't an instructor-led class, Allison is happy to help if you need it. Yesterday about 4 pm, I checked the live traffic feed on the SG blog (on the right sidebar). It's always fun to see where our visitors live, and it's rare for all of the most recent 10 visitors to be from the US. Yesterday, at the same time, we had visitors from Jerusalem, London, and Queensland, Australia, mixed in with the local gang!

Scrapbooking is most definitely an international hobby, and sketches seem to appeal to all. Our sketches downloads are the perfect format for international scrapbookers, and they are really starting to discover us!

September 'Card Party' class, final reveal

SG's Card Party class for September continues a great concept...three teachers, three cards, three tags, three stations, and three totally different approaches to cardmaking.

Today, we're showing you the card and tag that will be taught by Katrina Hunt. Katrina is showcasing layering and bow-making techniques!

This is one-third of the projects you'll be making in the class. The four projects by Lindsey Amschler and Amy Roller were shown in an earlier post.

Scrap-a-Palooza #12

Here are a few photos from Scrap-a-Palooza #12. We had a wonderful day of classes, demonstrations, cropping, meals, snacks, and lots and lots of chocolate. Thanks so much to all of you who shopped with us and took classes with Allison. Your support is so appreciated!

As some of you already know, we're changing our activity schedule next year in order to make life a little easier around here. Honestly, I don't know how we've kept up as long as we did, with four weekends of retreats and three weekends of Paloozas each year! We're dropping back from three Paloozas each year to two. The dates are already set for 2013: March 2 and September 28. In fact, registration has already started for the March 2 event!
