Sketch Fusion is here!

The first print run of Sketch Fusion is here at SG! We're starting to ship the pre-orders that were the books alone. The Simple Stories collection packs (Vintage Bliss, Urban Traveler, 24/Seven) and the Simple Basics packs are arriving in a few hours. (I think we're the first anywhere to get them.)

We're going to get all the pre-ordered bundles (collection packs and books) shipped today and tomorrow, unless something crazy happens. We want them to get to you as soon as possible!

Other info...
• Local shoppers who placed a pre-order for the print version of Sketch Fusion can stop by SG for your copy.
• The downloadable e-book version of Sketch Fusion is now ready in our online store. It's identical to the print version. Click here to purchase.
• The "new" Simple Stories embellishments (brads, etc.) are not available yet. It's looking like it's going to be another couple of weeks for those. So, if your pre-order also included any single sheets of paper, brads, etc. (anything that is NOT a collection pack), those will come to you in a separate shipment.

Great response!

We're getting a huge response to our notice about signing up for a new mailing list for those interested in advance notice of any weekend crops we'll be hosting here at SG. Over 500 of you (some from as far away as Canada!) have already let us know you want to be on the new list.

We have decided to announce all of our 2013 weekend crops at once. We're waiting on confirmation of a plan that could make our May 4 National Scrapbooking Day hoopla a part of this crop schedule. Once we know for sure what we'll be doing that day, we'll announce the entire 2013 schedule.

People who have signed up for the weekend crop mailing list will receive an email notification 48 hours prior to the announcement here on the blog and on Facebook. Once we announce the entire schedule, you'll be able to sign up for any of the 2013 weekend crops.

Sign up for the list by sending an email to debbie@scrapbookgeneration.com.

New email list...

We had a weekend crop this past week that turned out to be successful in more ways than one! I don't know quite what to call it -- impromptu is what I keep coming up with, but that isn't exactly right.

In the space of about two hours a few weeks ago, we had scrapbookers from California, Kansas, Louisiana, Illinois, and Arkansas ask if they could crop at our store. It was a one-time-only situation, and we were happy to offer them our facilities. It turned out to be a fabulous weekend, for us as well as for them.

What we learned is that we can probably handle this type of weekend event without too much extra craziness. The part we CAN'T handle anymore -- moving our products off-site -- is eliminated, and we were able to seat 20 people comfortably in our classroom/crop area.

After this trial run went so well, we've decided that we can offer a Friday-Saturday crop experience (maybe even the option of Thursday) here at SG once every three months or so. The crop times would probably be 10 am until midnight Friday and Saturday nights, with possibly 10am until 6 pm on Thursday as an added option.

They will probably be what I consider a no-frills crop. We would supply snacks and drinks; you would be responsible for meals. (We have lots of places close by that deliver pizza, sandwiches, and full meals, and lots of restaurants close by if you want to go out for a meal.)

We've had quite a few travelers lately inquire about any events like this, and I'll try to put together a list of possible dates for 2013, because I know that usually travel plans have to be made several weeks in advance.

There is also the chance that we'll have an event like this in conjunction with National Scrapbooking Day in May -- except much bigger!

So, we would like to start a new email list for those of you who would like advance notice and details of any weekend crop events Scrapbook Generation will be hosting here at our store. If you would like to be part of this mailing list, please send an email to debbie@scrapbookgeneration.com!

March Super-Saver Scrapbooking layouts!

Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions...
We'll be making these three layouts Saturday, March 9 in the Debbie Sanders Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions at Scrapbook Generation. As always, your cost to make these three layouts at SG is an amazing $9. (This month is an extra-good deal -- you'll be getting six sheets of patterned paper instead of the typical four sheets!)

Give us a call at 417-886-0440 to register and pre-pay. Sessions will be held at 10am and 2pm.

"SG Loyalty" program...
And don't forget the "SG Loyalty" program, the customer loyalty program that rewards people who shop in our Springfield store through a computerized point system. When you reach $50 in purchases (excluding kit clubs, classes which require pre-payment, and gift cards), a coupon for $5 off your purchase on a future day is generated as part of your receipt. The coupon can be used to purchase anything at SG except kit clubs and gift cards.

You'll earn double points for your entire purchase by attending and participating in the Super Saver Scrapbooking class shown above!

Super Sketch Club members:
Yes, materials for these three layouts will be included in your March kit!

KITS:
• All kits must be requested before the class activities take place on Saturday.
• The fee for a kit is $10, and is due at the time the request is made.
• If you need the kit shipped to you, the shipping charge is an additional $5.99.
The best deal for our long-distance customers? Join the monthly Super Sketch Club and get this kit, the Sketch Day One layout kit, and the Sketch Day Two layout kit (includes materials and sketches for five double-page layouts, plus two bonus double-page sketches) for $20 plus $6.99 shipping.

We have a problem!

A little over two years ago, we moved into a building about twice as big as our original location. And it's just not working. We really, really need more room!

Right now, we have about 15 - 20 unopened boxes of new products from American Crafts, Crate Paper, Pebbles, Studio Calico, Echo Park, Fancy Pants, and other companies. There are probably 10-12 other new collections that are priced and ready to go, yet they're stacked in our storeroom waiting for a spot to open up. There's no room to display these new goodies. It's extremely frustrating.

This has been the same situation we've been dealing with for some time, and on a lazy afternoon a few weeks ago, we spent some time just walking through the store, thinking out loud, and trying to see what we could do to make room for more fixtures and more products.

Over the next few months, here are some changes we plan to attempt.
• Moving some existing fixtures to new spots;
• Eliminating one of the long rows of racks in the back of the store (parallel with the cardstock row) where only paper can be displayed;
• Purchasing some new fixtures;
• Removing the K & Company displays in the front windows and replacing them with some type of slatwall displays;
• Covering the windows into the classroom with slatwall;
• Adding slatwall in some places to form u-shaped areas and create more wall space.

Some of these improvements will require no disruption of shopping. The ones that will be disruptive will be done after store hours (helps when you have a construction guy in the family)!

We're really excited about the improvements and can't wait to get started. Along with the changes mentioned above, we want to re-configure some shopping zones. For example, we would like to have an area dedicated to Project Life-type products. Right now, we have it scattered everywhere -- stamps, stickers, cards, Echo Park Photo Freedom items, Simple Stories Sn@p items, and more. In May, we'll be getting the entire massive American Crafts Project Life product line, so we want to make it easy to find items for that style of scrapbooking.

Another area that needs consolidation is cardmaking. We want to expand what we have to offer for cardmakers, and have an area dedicated to that topic. We've tried a few rubber stamps in the past, but we really want to go big in that area, plus add to our supplies of small embellishments suited to cardmaking.

So, over the next few months we're going to do everything we can to pack more product into our existing space, but at the same time keeping it a comfortable place to shop. We'll keep you informed each step of the way!

And to keep you wondering...no, this isn't our big news! Hope to tell you that by the end of the month!

Online rewards continue through midnight Sunday!

Don't forget that our series of online shopping rewards continues until midnight central time on Sunday, March 3.
