August Super-Saver layouts...

With the summer heat hitting us every day, why not stay cool and capture those sunny memories the easy way -- with SG's popular Super-Savers? Our August layouts are just waiting for your photos!

Here's a look at the three layouts we'll be making Saturday, August 6 in the Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions at Scrapbook Generation. As always, your cost to make these three layouts at SG is an amazing $9. Give us a call to register and pre-pay. Sessions are held at 10, 12:30 and 2:30. And don't forget that you'll get one punch on your Studio G Reward Card. Don't have a card yet? No problem...we'll make sure you get one!

We're expecting this set of pages to be popular. Because we can only seat 32 people per session, please call early (417-886-0440) to reserve your spot!

If you can't attend and would like us to make you a kit, the fee is $10 and is due at the time you request the kit.

Note to Super Sketch Club members: Yes, materials for these three layouts will be included in your August kit!

Super Sketch Club news...
The July kit is sold out. New club members will start with the August kit.
Family news...
Home from the hospital, with Nurse Karin and Nurse Debbie alternating work shifts! Thanks so much for all your concern and well wishes. They have been much appreciated by the entire SG family.

Hospital news...
We're still here. Mother will have a few good hours, then she'll have a problem with nausea. We're going to be here, I think, until she's able to eat. Hopefully, we'll be able to take her home in another day or two.

August and September newsletters...
The print newsletters will be mailed Monday or Tuesday. We're anxious for you to see what we have planned for August and September, including a couple of new class series that will get underway in September. (I've already added the August calendar to the left sidebar here on the blog.)

August Super-Saver...
We're working on a special summer-themed set of layouts for the Super-Savers on Saturday, August 6. We should be posting the photos here in just a couple of days. We're using papers and stickers by a new company, and we think you'll love the look! You can choose from three sessions (10, 12:30, and 2:30), and we're taking sign-ups already. We can only take 32 people at each of the sessions, and I have a feeling that these are going to fill up quickly once you see the layouts.

Additional "No Frills" Studio G Saturday Crop...
Because of a scheduling conflict, Tammy Tutterow will not be teaching at SG on Friday and Saturday, July 29-30. Since this leaves us with a free Saturday, we've added a "no-frills" crop this Saturday, July 30. The fee is $5, and you are responsible for your own snacks and drinks. You are welcome to bring a lunch, go out for lunch, or have something delivered to SG. People attending the crop receive 10% off their purchases. To register for this crop, just call us at 417-886-0440.

Christmas in July card class...

Tuesday, July 26, we hope you can join us for a "Christmas in July" card embossing class with Kristi VanDoren. You'll be making three cards and getting an early start on Christmas cards this year. The cards use a large Dreamweaver stencil, and we'll have extras in case you want to purchase your own. Each card uses a different technique, and is beautiful in person! The class begins at 5:30 pm, and the fee is $15.
The latest...
After the excitement of Monday night, we've settled into the hospital routine. I think my mother will be here for a few more days. Although she's still uncomfortable, she seems more like herself as each day goes by, so that's a good thing.

I wanted to thank everyone for their concern, and for all the caring comments left here on the blog and on Facebook, both the SG page and our personal pages, and also on the Two Peas message board. They mean a great deal to us, and we've read them all to her. I think that given our occupations, we should probably print them out and scrapbook them!

Super Sketch Club kits...
We shipped a small number of the kits on Wednesday, and the great majority are shipping today. It's possible that a small amount will go out on Friday. This is the first time that the postal service has picked the packages up at SG. The guy who came on Wednesday was not particularly happy with the amount of boxes, and it was only a small fraction of what he'll see today!

I'll also let you know that there are only about 20 extra kits left from July for those of you who are thinking about joining the Super Sketch Club and would like to start now. We usually have more than that. I've been trying to anticipate the amount of growth per month when I order the next set of materials, but we've had a ton of new members in the last couple of weeks, so these will probably go pretty quickly.

What a night!
There's something to be said about emergency surgery...there's no time to think, worry, or fret. Karin and I had a memorable night with our mother, Mary Lou Rush, Monday evening.

About 11 pm, I drove my mom to the emergency room in Springfield, about an hour's drive for us. It took quite some time to get in a room, then also more time for examinations and other things. I always call Karin for emergency room visits so that she can share the fun, but I had intended to let her sleep this one out. However, about 3 am, I decided that the way things were progressing, that she needed to be there, too. After a specific test at 4:30 am, they decided that Mother had a ruptured appendix. By 6 am, she was in surgery.

After she was out of surgery and in a room, Karin stayed with her while I went home to get some sleep. Right now, we've switched shifts and Karin is getting some rest.

Stacey and Allison and Don have been at SG all day trying to get the rest of the Super Sketch Club packed. We had a good amount of them done before this happened, and it's looking like we'll still be able to ship on time, with about half of the boxes going out on Wednesday and half on Thursday. Anyway, that's our goal.

I have a class on Thursday that I'm going to go ahead and cancel. Karin and I will be taking turns here at the hospital for at least five days as my mother recuperates and they make sure that there are no problems with infection.

From time to time, this is what happens when you're a small family business. Family comes first, business comes second. The great thing, I know that all of you understand that.

And don't forget, we'll punch your Studio G Reward Card. Don't have one yet? No problem, we'll be happy to get you started on the way to earning some great rewards like free page kits, $20 gift cards, and other goodies!

If you want a kit, the fee is $5, and is due at the time the request is made. (Sorry, above discount does not apply to kits.)
