Join us for Operation Write Home!
Scrapbook Generation is proud to announce that starting this month, we will be participating in Operation Write Home.
Saturday, July 26, we're inviting area cardmakers to use our classroom crop area to make cards to be donated to this great cause. Scrapbook Generation will provide a goodie bag to all those who participate, and we'll ship the cards made to Operation Write Home.
Operation Write Home is a volunteer group that makes handcrafted greeting cards for service personnel to send back home to family and friends. Over 2,500,000 cards have been sent! This non-profit group has supplied cards to deployed service members since 2007, knowing that nothing compares to a handwritten note from a loved one serving in harm’s way overseas. The organization has grown steadily, now supplying over half a million cards a year; nearly 8,000 boxes have been shipped to over 2,000 deployed units.
“Our mission is to make sure deployed service members can keep in touch with home by providing a steady supply of handmade greeting cards,” said founder and executive director Sandy Allnock.
How you can participate this month:
• Cardmakers who are enrolled in Lindsey Amschler's 11 am card class on July 26 can come early and stay late! You may work/play in the classroom from 10 am until 5 pm.
• Others who would like to join in making the cards for servicemen and servicewomen can also sign up to make cards that day. We'll have room for about 10 additional people. Please call 417-886-0440 to reserve your free spot for this worthwhile project.
